Well, the 2008-2009 Atlanta Hawks season has come to an end.
Here is how Atlanta let a 7 point lead after the first quarter slip away:
1. They took too many 3’s when, quite frankly, they didn’t need to (Made two out of 13). A two point basket would have sufficed.
2. They couldn’t defend the three. Cleveland made 10 out of 18.
3. The Hawks forgot to rebound (33 to Cleveland’s 48).
4. With 6:40 left in the second period, The Hawks made a FG. They were 0/8 in the period before then.
5. After scoring 22 points in the first period, the Hawks couldn’t match that total in each of the third remaining periods. They scored 16 in the second, 19 in the third and 17 in the fourth.
6. Mike Bibby only scored three points and that came in the 4th quarter. Josh Smith was the Hawks leading scorer tonight with 26 points.
Well, that’s it, Hawks fans. It was quite a season. The good news is that they won more games than last year and they were able to get farther in the playoffs. The Hawks have a lot to do in the offseason and their focus will be the subject of my next blog.
